I am taking responsibility for my own personal health… to research and study what is required for a healthier body, mind, and spirit. Forgetting all that I once thought was true, I will discover my own truths regarding: diet and nutrition, exercise and weight loss, natural and preventative measures to restore health, and God’s Word to feed my spirit.
While the truth is out there, it takes effort and the grace of God to find and discern it. I may feel angry as I realize that trusted government, pharmaceutical companies, health-care professionals, and even the clergy have deceived me.
Giving Away My Better Health… (Then)
Just tell me how much this is going to cost. Don’t tell me anything I don’t want to hear… and worse, tell me what I do want to hear… because I’m busy and don’t have time for the truth. Tell me my food is wholesome and my drinking water is acceptable for consumption. Tell me these pills will cure my disease, not manipulate it into a chronic illness that keeps me coming back for more… and for God’s sake don’t mention side effects. And finally, when I visit church to pay my tithe, tell me I am saved so I can live free another week. God forbid I care enough to be personally involved in what’s best for me… I’m just too busy.
… Taking Back My Better Health (Now)
I will forget what I thought I knew… the lies I had been led to believe. I will hold a light to the darkness exposing the deceptions which lurk there. The majority may hurl insults and call me a fool. I’m taking responsibility for my better health and will discover what I believe and why I believe it. The truth will become my own experience.
God’s Word tells us:
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew 7:14 KJV)
The way only narrows as we are shown more truth… I can expect that the few who find it are very few indeed.

The search results will show that the English word “fire” is in the New Testament a total of 83 times in 79 different verses. By double clicking on a verse in the search result area you are immediately taken to that verse in the reading pane. You may also click “accept” which will close the search window but save your search results in the drop down tool just to the right of the binocular icon. You can then scroll to each verse or simply click on the directional arrow, either forward or backward through the list.
By hovering the mouse over the Strong’s number next to the word fire we see it is the Greek word “pur”, and it is this same Greek word each of the times it is mentioned in these particular verses. You may recall that denominations of the Christian church teach fire as being undesirable. We see from verse 10 the trees that bring not forth fruit, representing evil man, thrown into the fire. In verse 12 we see chaff purged from the threshing floor and also thrown into the fire. How then do we understand verse 11 which states that Jesus baptizes us with the Holy Ghost and with fire?
The name and premise of this book had me very curious. I wanted to see how Rubin collected, organized, and understood information on diet from the Bible. Overall I believe he has done a fair job. In addition to nutrition he touches upon positive thinking, stress management, fasting, resting, exercising, herbs, oils, hydrotherapy, music therapy, and of course prayer. I was expecting a thorough book on a Bible based diet and did not find the extra information to be that interesting. While the book may be titled The Maker’s Diet, he really conveys The Maker’s Lifestyle. He attempts to sell too many ideas, providing summaries lacking enough evidence to really close on them individually. Even with the extra fluff I was able to find a few good takeaways bookmarked for later review.
